School & Educational Facility Cleaning Services
Golden Star School Cleaning provides scheduled and deep cleaning for primary schools, secondary colleges, kindergartens and childcare centres across metropolitan Melbourne. Every staff member is WWC-checked and directly employed — no subcontractors, no labour hire. All cleaning products are GECA-certified and free from harsh residues. A named team is assigned to your campus, and the same crew attends every scheduled visit throughout the contract.
Cleaning Services We Offer for Schools
Eight specialist school cleaning services, each built around a specific area of the campus with its own trained crew, product selection and written protocol. Every service is available as a standalone engagement or bundled as part of an integrated contract that covers the full scope of the campus. The eight services below address every physical area of a school — from daily classroom and bathroom maintenance through to periodic floor restoration, external pressure washing and seasonal gutter clearing.
Daily Classroom Cleaning
Desks, chairs, floors, skirting boards and internal glazing cleaned to a written room-specific checklist after school hours every school day. All high-touch surfaces — door handles, light switches, shared equipment and whiteboard ledges — are disinfected using TGA-listed products on every visit. Protocols are adapted for primary classrooms, secondary rooms and specialist spaces including science labs, art rooms and technology workshops.
Classroom cleaningBathroom & Toilet Cleaning
Daily disinfection of all fixtures, floors, cubicle surfaces and high-touch areas using TGA-listed disinfectant products rated for use in educational environments. Grout lines, drains, cistern buttons, behind-cistern areas and ventilation grilles are included in quarterly deep clean rotations. Hand dryer surfaces and soap dispensers are checked and restocked on each scheduled visit.
Bathroom cleaningHall & Gymnasium Cleaning
Timber, vinyl and hard-set gymnasium floors are cleaned using manufacturer-approved products to preserve floor coatings and maintain warranty compliance. Assembly halls, stage surrounds, seating tiers and change rooms are included in scope. The cleaning schedule is coordinated around school events, community hirings and evening bookings to ensure the space is presentation-ready before each use.
Hall cleaningKitchen & Canteen Cleaning
Food-safe cleaning of preparation benches, appliance exteriors, serving counters and floors using products compliant with the Food Act 1984 (Vic) for use on food-contact surfaces. Grease management, food residue removal and bin area sanitisation are included on every scheduled canteen visit. All chemicals used in food-preparation areas appear on the approved food-contact surface product list provided in the compliance pack.
Kitchen & canteenCarpet & Floor Cleaning
Hot water extraction carpet cleaning removes embedded soil, allergens and biological material that routine vacuuming cannot reach. Hard floor stripping and resealing restores the protective sealant layer on vinyl and linoleum surfaces, extending floor life and reducing long-term replacement costs. Timber floor maintenance uses manufacturer-approved products. Scheduling is aligned to school holiday breaks by default or adjusted to a custom frequency based on traffic levels and floor condition.
Carpet & floor cleaningWindow Cleaning
Internal and external window cleaning for classrooms, corridor glazing, administration offices and gymnasium windows. A purified water-fed pole system is used for external glazing on single-storey buildings to deliver a streak-free result without ladders. Twice-yearly scheduling is standard, with additional visits available before parent evenings, open days or formal inspections.
Window cleaningExternal & Playground Pressure Cleaning
Paved paths, playground surrounds, bin enclosures, car park areas and entry canopy surfaces are pressure washed to remove moss, organic staining, chewing gum and grease accumulation. A moss inhibitor is applied after treatment to slow regrowth between annual visits. Synthetic rubber and softfall surfaces are cleaned at appropriate low-pressure settings to prevent surface damage. All wastewater is directed to appropriate drainage per EPA Victoria guidelines.
Pressure cleaningGutter Cleaning
Roof gutter and downpipe clearing prevents water overflow, fascia board damage and roof ingress during heavy Melbourne rainfall periods. Twice-annual service is recommended — before the autumn leaf-fall season and following spring storms. All debris is bagged and removed from the campus. Staff working at roof level are trained in height safety and carry appropriate personal protective equipment. Before and after photographs are provided for the school maintenance records after every gutter clean.
Gutter cleaningAll eight services are available under a single integrated school cleaning contract, eliminating the administrative overhead of managing multiple contractors across different service categories. Schools that consolidate classroom, bathroom, floor, window, pressure washing and gutter services with a single provider receive one compliance documentation pack covering all services, one consistent point of contact and one monthly invoice. This simplifies WHS record-keeping, removes scheduling conflicts between contractors and reduces the risk of service gaps when one contractor fails to attend. Contact us to discuss a fully integrated contract for your campus.
Types of Educational Facilities We Service
Golden Star School Cleaning operates across all categories of Victorian educational facility. The cleaning protocol is adapted to each specific facility type — a long day care centre has fundamentally different disinfection requirements to a secondary college science department, and both differ significantly from a specialist school serving students with complex needs. Generic commercial cleaning protocols designed for offices or retail premises are not appropriate for educational environments, and Golden Star does not apply them. Each protocol is built specifically for the facility type, the age group it serves and the regulatory framework that applies to it.
Every new facility receives a site-specific cleaning plan developed during the free site visit and refined during the first fortnight of the contract. This plan reflects the building layout, floor surface types, room categories, enrolment size and any regulatory or accreditation requirements specific to that facility. Independent schools, Catholic schools and government schools each operate under different compliance frameworks. Childcare centres and kindergartens are subject to NQF requirements. The cleaning plan is built to match the framework that applies to your specific facility — not a generic template applied across all clients.
Primary Schools
Floor-level play areas, reading corners, art rooms and shared bathrooms need protocols adapted for younger students. Higher floor-contact activity means floors and mats receive additional attention on every visit.
Secondary Colleges
Science laboratories, technology workshops, art rooms and gymnasium change rooms each require specific chemical protocols distinct from standard classroom cleaning procedures.
Kindergartens
All products are non-toxic with no harsh residues. Sleep rooms, mat areas and outdoor play surfaces receive enhanced attention. Cleaning scheduled around rest and care routines.
Childcare Centres
Full NQF compliance documentation provided for regulatory inspections. Cleaning timed around nap schedules. All staff hold WWC Checks relevant to childcare environments.
After-Hours vs During-Hours Cleaning
The standard Golden Star cleaning window is after school hours — typically 3:30pm to 7:30pm on school days. After-hours cleaning removes any risk of cleaning products being present in occupied classrooms or corridors, allows hard floors to be fully mopped and dried before students arrive the following morning, and eliminates the classroom disruptions that daytime cleaning routinely causes. It also ensures that cleaning staff are never working around students during the school day, removing any supervision or safeguarding considerations that arise when contractors are on campus during operating hours.
After-hours scheduling also produces a measurably better cleaning outcome. Cleaners work methodically through each room on the checklist without navigating around students or teaching resources. Mops, buckets and equipment can be positioned efficiently without obstructing corridor access.
Daytime cleaning is available where appropriate — bathroom spot-checks on large campuses, canteen maintenance between sessions, and emergency cleans following an incident. Any daytime attendance at an occupied school is pre-arranged with the principal or business manager. All staff carry WWC Check cards and photo identification. See the after-hours cleaning page for full scheduling detail.
Our School Cleaning Process
A four-step process from first contact to ongoing service — designed to remove ambiguity and give school councils a clear record of what is agreed, who will deliver it and how quality is verified.
Free Site Visit
A Golden Star team leader visits the school in person, inspects every area to be cleaned and discusses your specific requirements, key and alarm access arrangements, and any WHS or compliance considerations. The visit typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on campus size and is scheduled at a time convenient for the principal or business manager. No commitment is required at the site visit stage.
Itemised Written Quote
A written quote is delivered within 24 hours of the site visit. Every area and every service type is listed as a separate line item with its own price — no bundled totals that obscure what you are paying for each service. School councils reviewing the quote can see precisely what is included in scope, what is excluded, and what optional add-on services are available if the scope needs adjustment before the contract is signed.
Contract & Compliance Pack
On quote acceptance, the signed contract is issued together with the full compliance documentation pack. This includes WWC check card numbers for all assigned staff, National Police Check summaries, the current certificate of currency for public liability insurance, GECA product data sheets, safety data sheets for every chemical used on campus, and Safe Work Method Statements prepared specifically for your school. Schools do not need to chase individual documents — the complete pack is provided as a single bundled file.
Named Team, Ongoing Service
The same named cleaning team attends every scheduled visit — not a rotating pool of unfamiliar staff. A service completion record is provided after each clean confirming which areas were cleaned and noting any issues observed. If a service problem is reported within 24 hours, a rectification clean for the affected area is provided within two business days at no additional charge. This commitment is written into the contract as a binding obligation, not a discretionary response that depends on individual staff goodwill.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Every contract is backed by a full compliance documentation pack delivered before the first clean. Schools do not need to request these documents — they are provided as standard with every signed contract.
Working With Children Checks
All staff hold a current Victorian WWC Check. Card numbers are included in the compliance pack and can be verified online. National Police Checks are renewed every two years.
GECA-Certified Products
All products are certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia. Product data sheets and safety data sheets are included in the compliance pack. No harsh residues in school or childcare environments.
$20M Public Liability
A current certificate of currency is included in every compliance pack. The policy covers all cleaning activities across the full school campus including external and roof-level gutter work.
WorkSafe Victoria
All staff receive WorkSafe-compliant site inductions before commencing on a new campus. Safe Work Method Statements are prepared for each site and provided to the school on request.
EPA Victoria
Pressure washing wastewater is directed to appropriate drainage per EPA Victoria guidelines. Cleaning waste is separated at the source and disposed of per local council requirements.
No Subcontractors
All cleaning staff are directly employed by Golden Star School Cleaning. No labour hire agencies or subcontracting is used at any point. The school always knows exactly who is on campus.
Why Melbourne Schools Choose Golden Star
Schools that switch to Golden Star typically do so after experiencing one of three persistent problems with a previous contractor: staff inconsistency leading to variable cleaning quality, gradual scope reduction applied without a corresponding price reduction, or compliance documentation that cannot be produced at short notice when requested by a WHS officer, school council or Department of Education inspector. The six commitments below address each of these failure points directly. They are not marketing claims — they are written obligations in the service contract that the school council can enforce.
Same Team, Every Visit
A named cleaning crew is assigned to your school and attends every scheduled visit. No rotating pool of unfamiliar staff. The same people learn your campus layout, your requirements and your preferences over time.
Written Checklist Per Room
Every room has its own cleaning checklist developed at the site visit. The crew signs off after each visit and the school receives a service completion record confirming exactly what was cleaned and any issues noted.
Term-Aligned Scheduling
The cleaning roster is built around Victorian school term dates. Holiday deep cleans are automatically scheduled at every break. Schools do not need to request or confirm — it is built into the contract from day one.
Compliance Ready
The complete compliance documentation pack is delivered with the signed contract — before the first clean. WHS officers and school councils can review all documentation immediately, without waiting for documents to be located.
No Lock-In First Term
New schools start on a rolling monthly trial with no lock-in for the first term. The trial pricing is identical to the annual contract rate — there is no introductory price that reverts upward after the trial ends.
Rectification Guarantee
If a service issue is reported within 24 hours, a rectification clean is provided within two business days at no charge. This is a written contract obligation — not a discretionary goodwill response.
Green & Eco-Friendly Cleaning
All products are GECA-certified. Microfibre systems reduce chemical usage significantly compared to traditional methods. Schools can request a Green Cleaning Report for DET reporting or accreditation. View green cleaning
Holiday Deep Cleaning

For schools in outer growth corridors — including Craigieburn, Pakenham, Tarneit, Clyde North and Officer — contact us to confirm current availability. As Golden Star expands crew capacity in outer suburban areas, priority scheduling is offered to schools that make initial contact earliest. If you are in an outer suburb and have had difficulty finding a reliable school cleaning contractor, it is worth making contact before assuming the area is outside the service boundary.
