About Golden Star School Cleaning

Golden Star School Cleaning is a Melbourne-based school cleaning company founded in 2019. We exist for one purpose: cleaning educational facilities to a standard that protects student health, satisfies school compliance obligations and holds up across a full academic year. Every staff member holds a current Working With Children Check, every product is GECA-certified, and every cleaning programme is built around the school calendar — not a generic commercial schedule.

Our Story

Our Story

Golden Star School Cleaning was established in Melbourne in 2019 as a specialist division of Golden Star Office Cleaning. The decision to create a school-specific operation — rather than adding schools to an existing commercial cleaning portfolio — came from a clear understanding of why commercial cleaners consistently underperform in educational environments.

Schools are not offices. They run on term schedules, not calendar months. Every person who enters a school site must hold a Working With Children Check, not just a police check or a general security clearance. Cleaning products must be safe for children aged four to eighteen — fragrance-free, VOC-free and non-toxic as a baseline requirement, not as a premium add-on. Floor and bathroom usage cycles are entirely different from commercial office environments, and the management structure — principals, business managers, school councils — requires communication and accountability practices that a standard commercial contract model does not provide.

From 2019, Golden Star School Cleaning was built specifically around these requirements. Every system, every product selection, every staffing policy and every pricing structure was designed for schools, not adapted from a commercial cleaning template. We now service primary schools, secondary colleges, specialist schools, kindergartens and childcare centres across metropolitan Melbourne and into inner regional Victoria.

Why Schools Choose Us

Why Melbourne Schools Trust Golden Star

Three things separate a specialist school cleaning company from a commercial cleaner that accepts school accounts. First: staff clearances — every person on a school site must hold a current Victorian WWC Check, not just a police check. Second: product safety — GECA-certified, VOC-free and fragrance-free products are the baseline, not an upgrade tier. Third: schedule alignment — cleaning must follow the school calendar, with holiday deep cleans and return-to-school preparation built into the agreement. Golden Star delivers all three as standard inclusions, documented before the first cleaning visit.

Consistent crew allocation: The same cleaning team is assigned to your school each visit. Staff learn your site layout, your routines and your specific requirements — reducing the re-briefing cycle that comes with high crew turnover and subcontractor rotation.
No subcontractors: Every person cleaning your school is directly employed or contracted by Golden Star. We do not broker your school to a third-party operator. The team present at the site visit is the team that cleans your school.
Term-aligned scheduling: Holiday deep cleans, end-of-term resets and return-to-school preparation are built into your service agreement. We do not treat school holidays as a gap in the contract that requires a separate booking or additional negotiation each term.
Itemised transparent pricing: Every quote breaks down cost by area and service type. School councils and business managers can review the pricing against comparable contracts. View our pricing structures for reference before requesting a quote.
Our Team

Our Cleaning Team — Trained, Vetted & Insured

Every Golden Star school cleaner completes a structured induction before their first shift on a school site. The induction covers child safety obligations under the Victorian Child Safe Standards, correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals in an educational environment, emergency procedures, and school-site access protocols including sign-in registers and key management.

Uniforms are worn on all school sites. Staff carry photo identification and sign in using the school's visitor management system on every visit. Each crew member has a designated team leader responsible for quality control, and each school has a named Golden Star contact reachable by phone or email within two business hours. The school's principal and business manager are introduced to the team leader before the first cleaning shift, and a direct contact number is provided for after-hours issues during the cleaning window.

Training is ongoing, not a one-time event. Team leaders conduct quarterly skills refreshers, and new equipment or product introductions are preceded by a site-specific briefing for the assigned crew.

Compliance & Credentials

Working With Children Checks & Compliance

Every person Golden Star places on a school site holds a current Working With Children Check issued by the Victorian Department of Justice. WWC Checks are verified before the first shift and monitored for renewal. A staff member whose WWC Check lapses is stood down from school sites immediately. Full compliance documentation — including WWC records, product Safety Data Sheets, insurance certificate and relevant SWMS — is provided to schools on request via our compliance and safety page.

How We Work

What to Expect When You Work With Us

From first contact to first cleaning visit typically takes five to seven business days, depending on site complexity and the school's internal approval process. The process is designed to work within school administration time constraints — no lengthy onboarding, no unnecessary back-and-forth.

1
Free site visit. A Golden Star team leader visits your school to map the cleaning scope room by room. Specialist areas — science labs, canteen, accessible bathrooms, outdoor amenities — are noted separately. Site visits are scheduled at a time that does not interfere with teaching and typically take 30 to 90 minutes depending on campus size.
2
Written proposal within 24 hours. A detailed, itemised quote is provided within one business day. Every area and service type is broken out by cost so school councils and business managers can review the pricing against comparable contracts. No bundled rates that obscure the per-area figure.
3
Compliance pack before day one. Once approved, a service agreement is issued alongside the complete compliance documentation — WWC Check records, public liability certificate, GECA product data sheets and relevant Safe Work Method Statements. No chasing required.
4
Team introduction and site induction. The assigned crew visits before the first cleaning shift to complete a site induction, collect access credentials and meet the relevant school contacts. No staff member accesses the building without this step completed. Contact us to begin the process.
The Golden Star Group

Part of the Golden Star Family

Golden Star School Cleaning operates as a specialist division of Golden Star Office Cleaning, an established Melbourne commercial cleaning business. The school division was created as a standalone operation — with its own staffing structure, product procurement, scheduling systems and compliance framework — because school environments require a level of specialisation that a general commercial cleaning service cannot sustain as a core competency.

The benefit of the group structure is operational depth: access to a larger staff pool during holiday surge periods, shared equipment maintenance infrastructure, and the financial stability that comes with an established business. The benefit of the specialist structure is focus: school accounts are not managed alongside office or retail contracts, school-specific compliance is not merged with general commercial procedures, and the team working in schools works exclusively in schools.
